Example: The Don Rowing Club
I have been a member at the Don Rowing Club for many years, so the work I did there was purely on a volunteer basis. Knowing that volunteer-run organizations go through drastic transformations every other year, I wanted to build something that worked, looked good, but wouldn’t upset me if it was erased by the next administration. We needed a system that had multiple features, like a blog, image gallery, article publishing, news feed, and calendar. We also needed a robust administrative system that would allow dozens of people to work collaboratively to build and maintain the website content, so I implemented the Drupal content management system, Gallery2, TinyMCE, Google Calendar, and several other modules. I set up an AdWords campaign for our Learn to Row programs, and worked with another developer to create an online membership management and payment system. It’s no work of art, but it gets hundreds of unique visitors each day and the coaches love it!
